Volans is a for-profit company, dedicated to the business of social and environmental innovation. Founded in March 2008, Volans is based in London and Singapore with partnerships developing across the world. We work with corporations and social enterprises to create opportunities for talent share, to spark the innovation of new business models, and to facilitate investment in scalable solutions. Jerry Linenger flew on the Space Shuttles Discovery and Atlantis. Then he began training (using Russian language) at the Cosmonaut Training Center, in preparation for a mission aboard the Russian Space Station Mir.
Charmian Love joins Volans with a background in both the private and non-profit sectors. Throughout her career she has been attracted to ambitious and innovative ideas designed to create social and economic value.
For emerging economies transitioning from international aid to international investment, there is a gap in the development sector. In these countries, thousands of ambitious and visionary entrepreneurs have the desire and ability to run innovative businesses that create jobs, wealth, and economic security for themselves and for entire communities.
I shaped the new Volans Connects offering by meeting with 35 U.S. social entrepreneurs to introduce them to the Volans Vision. This collaborative process helped us form a unique offering that the social sector really needs, while getting the word out about Volans to leading market-based members of the Ashoka, Echoing Green, and Skoll networks.
