Following the success of the China tour in January 2010, the British Council asked Volans to develop a customized program for senior ambassadors from Thailand. In March 2010, a group of enthusiastic delegates embarked on an intensive four day study immersion with a specific focus on UK policy development, social finance and the role social enterprises can play in the delivery and reform of public services specifically related to health. The overall objective was to bring key learning from the UK into the development of the social enterprise sector in Thailand.

Participants included the National Advisor to the Prime Minister of Thailand, senior ambassadors from Thai Health Promotion, committee members from Thailand’s National Social Enterprise Committee (set up by the Prime Minister in February 2010) and representatives from ChangeFusion.

Over the course of four days, the delegation was exposed to 25 speakers from government, legal & regulatory bodies, social finance institutions, social enterprises and ethical businesses with a final stop at the Royal Thai Embassy in London.

We are pleased to be continuing our work with the British Council and look forward to establishing a two-way information exchange that will allow both the UK & international organizations to share best practices and stimulate new thinking on how we can build innovative solutions for some of today’s pressing global issues.
