Through the summer of 2008, Astrid Sandoval helped Volans develop new ideas for content and market research. She was also responsible for helping to create our marketing and communications strategy.

Formerly an acquisitions editor and idea generator at Harvard Business Press, Astrid developed and launched the Harvard Business Essentials series, The Results-Driven Manager series, and the Pocket Mentor series. She also edited numerous books including: The Power of Unreasonable People by John Elkingon and Pamela Hartigan; Competing on Analytics: The New Science of Winning by Tom H. Davenport and Jeanne G. Harris; Dragons at Your Door: How Chinese Cost Innovation Is Disrupting Global Competition by Peter J. Williamson and Ming Zeng; Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing: A Simpler and More Powerful Path to Higher Profits by Robert S. Kaplan and Steven R. Anderson; Climate Change: What’s Your Business Strategy by Andrew Hoffman and John Woody; The Medici Effect: Breakthrough Insights at the Intersection of Ideas, Concepts, and Cultures by Frans Johansson.

As part of the Clinton Global Initiative, Astrid worked with a team of senior editors to develop a “green” publishing strategy for Harvard Business Review and Harvard Business Online.

Prior to Harvard Business Press, she was a journalist writing articles for monthly publications such as Fast Company and Natural Health. Her areas of interest include socially responsible business and environmental issues, media and technology, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Astrid is truly inspired by finding and developing new ideas that put into practice can transform our everyday lives.

She is currently pursuing an MBA at IESE in Barcelona and will be attending London Business School this fall as part of an exchange program. At IESE, she is the publicity and communications director for Doing Good Doing Well, the largest student-run conference on responsible business. This year she put together a panel on how to scale social enterprises.

Astrid received a Masters in Writing and Publishing from Emerson College and a B.S. in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from U.C. San Diego. Originally from Madrid, Spain and fluent in Spanish, Astrid has lived most of her adult life in the United States but considers herself a global citizen.
