Governance

Volans Ventures is run by our Board of Directors, initially made up of the Founding Partners—but where the intention is to move to a greater number of non-executive directors—and responsible for financial performance, risk, internal control, standards of conduct, compliance, probity and the evaluation of management and board performance. Specific responsibilities include: Strategy, Performance, Risk Management, Management and Human Resources Oversight, plus adherence to our Values Statement.

The Directors and Founding Partners are:

• John Elkington, Founding Partner and Director
• Pamela Hartigan, Founding Partner and Director
• Kevin Teo, Founding Partner and Director

There are two other founding team members. Sam Lakha was John Elkington’s PA at SustainAbility and in addition will now be Company Secretary at Volans—and responsible for Volans Keynote. Given his continuing role as Vice-Chair of SustainAbility and his roles at Oxford University’s Environment Change Institute, Geoff Lye is unable to join our Board in the short term, but is helping us build our business model and strategy.

Volans Ventures will also benefit from the inputs of an Advisory Council. It will include up to 10 people. The current intention is that they will serve a 3-year term, extendible by three more. Council members will be leaders in their fields, selected on the basis of their expertise, knowledge and contacts. Specific responsibilities include: provision of advice to the Board on the overall strategy and key priorities; ambassadorial support for Volans; and advice on specific projects, as appropriate.
