2012 will see a succession of sustainability-related milestones with the first ‘One Planet’ Olympics held here in London — in the wider context of the 20th anniversary of the UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and the 25th anniversary of the Brundtland Commission report Our Common Future, which began the global mainstreaming of the sustainability agenda.
In the lead up to 2012, Volans is taking the initiative in illuminating London’s extraordinary cluster of sustainability-focused organisations - what we have called The London Project (previously, ‘One Planet London’[1]) as a working title. Among its goals, The London Project aims to build a collective sense of the nature and scale of various economic sectors in relation to sustainability, but more importantly, ensure that a shared agenda for action is evolved and communicated.
The London Project will be a collaborative effort with companies, the media, NGOs and other catalytic institutions and stakeholders.
