Examining the future of social enterprise

A guest article by Tom Rippin, Founder of On Purpose
John Elkington and Charmian Love formed the distinguished panel for the On Purpose annual event in May this year. As well as an opportunity for the On Purpose family to catch up, we discussed the future of social enterprise.
In a platform conversation with lots of audience participation we covered off:
- Is a shakeout of the social enterprise movement inevitable in the next years?
- Is the future of social enterprise to compete with big business or to make big business become more social?
- How will social enterprises scale or do they even need to?
John ended by describing the paradigm shift we are living through. Typically these take 80 years and we are nearing the end of a current one. The next 10-20 years will be particularly exciting times!
On Purpose is contributing to this future by helping to find, develop and train tomorrow’s social enterprise leaders. We are currently recruiting for our 2012 Associate cohort. To find out more and apply, visit the On Purpose website.
