“Influence is about power — the power to shape our lives, our thinking, and our environment,” The Evening Standard began its introduction to its 2008 listing of the ’1000 Most Influential People’ in London, published on October 6, 2008. At a time when “London’s influence is greater than ever,” the 1000 people selected “are the leaders and the innovators; the powerbrokers, the tastemakers and the gatekeepers; the thinkers and the role models.” Described as “a true green business guru,” John is introduced as “an evangelist for corporate social and environmental responsibility long before it was fashionable.”
