Alejandro set up and was the Director of the Innovation Lab at Volans from 2008 until December 2010. He moved on to be the founder and Director of the Earth Security Initiative, which unites scientists, politicians, investors and business to create long-term governance responses to the risk associated with the world’s ecological crises.

An experienced strategy advisor for development investors, Alejandro has advised institutions such as the World Bank, the Shell Foundation, the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation in South Africa.

From 2004-2008, Alejandro was a Senior Advisor at AccountAbility in London where he helped build the Collaborative Governance program. With the support of institutions such as the Ford Foundation and Club of Madrid, he set up initiatives in Russia, Indonesia and Brazil, bringing together politicians, investors, business and civil society innovators to forge mutual accountability agreements to advance energy security, anti-corruption and environmental goals and policies.

In 2004 he obtained an MSc in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics (LSE), and during this time he worked with Shell International’s Future Scenario team in London. Alejandro is Argentinean, and prior to coming to London he was an investment manager with the AVINA Foundation, supporting civil society and business leaders throughout Latin America.
