Charmian Love joins Volans with a background in both the private and non-profit sectors. Throughout her career she has been attracted to ambitious and innovative ideas designed to create social and economic value.

Charmian’s most recent position with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) allowed her to gain valuable experience working with clients in the financial services and social impact practice areas. Her project work included the organization of the inaugural Canadian Social Entrepreneurship Summit and the coordination of the selection process for the Schwab Foundation’s Canadian ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Through this experience Charmian became inspired by the passion of social entrepreneurs and committed to supporting the creation of effective, reciprocal partnerships within the market to help them scale their models.

Prior to BCG, Charmian worked as a Fine Art Specialist in the insurance industry and with various non-profit organizations, with a focus on strategy and programme development. This included work with Business for the Arts (formerly the Council for Business and the Arts in Canada) and MaRS, a Canadian innovation centre focused on creating economic and social value. While at MaRS, Charmian helped design the initial strategic framework for their new social entrepreneurship programming called Social Innovation Generation (SiG).

Being an active volunteer in the community has always been important to Charmian. She was one of the founding members of the United Way’s GenNext Cabinet where, as Chair, managed a large team of volunteers and created a portfolio of initiatives designed to raise its profile amongst young professionals in the community. Charmian has been an active member of the Toronto Board of Trade, where she served on the Community Action Advisory Board. Currently Charmian holds the position of Past Chair at the Flavelle Foundation, an organisation that allocates funding to registered charities in Canada.

Charmian graduated with an Honours BA from Queen's University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where her coursework focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Born and raised in Canada, Charmian now lives in London with her fiancé, Sam Gray. She enjoys visiting contemporary art galleries, adventure travel and brainstorming sessions.
